Christmas Ornament Exchange

My grandmother is having a ornament exchange at this year's Christmas get-together, and this is the ornament that I made for the event. It was really simple, and I love how it turned out.

Time: 10 minutes

Supplies:
1 clear ornament (mine came from Micheal's)
Fake snow or confetti (glitter would be cute too)
Natural berries and greenery
Block letters (I got a whole bag of these at Wal-Mart for $3 in the necklace/bracelet making section)
Ribbon
Glue
Tweezers

Steps:

1. Glue letters together making sure the word is small enough to fit inside the ornament
2. Fill ornament with snow, berries, and greenery
3. Place word inside using tweezers (I'm sure you could glue the stuff down, but I just left everything in free form with mine)

  9. I just came across this via pinterest. Loving this! How long does the greenery stay green. That would be my only concern with using natural greenery.

    1. My mom has this packed away, but when she gets out her ornaments this year, I will take a look and see how it fared. I was a little concerned about it too, but it stayed green for at least a month for sure. Hopefully it's still green when she gets it out! If not, she can replace it in about 2 minutes. Thanks for asking!

  13. Beautiful! How did you get the snow to not stick on the inside of the glass?

    1. It's the loose kind of snow, so I had no problems with sticking.

  20. I have had clear glass ornaments in my craft cupboard for years and years. I had bought them for another project that didn't work at all. But now I believe I have found the perfect solution for them....This will be perfect as sooo beautiful. Thanks for sharing!!! Holly

  21. These ornaments are beautiful. I like the natural look and would like to know what kind of greenery you used. I have holly (no berries), rosemary and boxwood, but would like the berries for their color.

I was concerned about the greens drying out so I bought some silica gel to dry them. I couldn't dry the holly as it was so big that it broke when I put it in the ornament. I placed my holly and other greens in the ornament, filled it with the silica gel beads and put it in the microwave. Everything was perfect when I poured out the silica gel beads. The greens dry darker than when they're fresh, but I didn't have time to preserve them using glycerin. I'll start early on that for next year.

Thank you so much for sharing and for the information about the supplies. I never would have found the beads.
